Some of the most heartwarming stories about our fuzzy friends are those of inter-species friendships.  Recently the story of Rosie and Maddy captured the attention of animal lovers everywhere seeming to be a real life example of The Disney Classic, The Fox and The Hound.  Rosie, a 15 week old fox cub and Maddy, a Lakeland Patterdale cross, became fast friends after Maddy’s owner Richard Bowler of   Berwyn mountains near Corwen, North Wales, a nature photographer, rescued Rosie after the fox cub’s father killed all of her siblings, leaving the tiny surviving cub abandoned and alone.  ‘Nothing is known about what happened to Rosie’s mum. All we know is that her dad went rogue and she was the only survivor and was hand-reared before her eyes had even opened,” Richard Bowler said in an interview with the UK Daily Mail.

After rescuing Rosie, Bowler and his girlfriend Helen began slowly introducing the fox cub to the Maddy and before long  the two animals who are natural enemies, could be seen running and playing together across the grounds of Bowler’s five acre estate in North Wales.  Due to Rosie’s small stature Bowler still makes sure to supervise the two furry friends play sessions but that supervision will soon be unnecessary after the fox cub grows a little bigger.  In the meantime, Bowler and his girlfriend Helen, have begun the process of toilette training Rosie and even taught the adorable fox cub to sit for tasty treat.  Maddy has also been a crucial contributor in the training process by setting a good example for Rosie of what she should and should not be doing and although the two fuzzy friends dont share a bed yet, due to Rosie’s small size, Bowler hopes that will change soon as the fox cub continues to grow.  Although it was extremely sad circumstance that brought Maddy and Rosie together, by just looking at pictures and video of two furry friend, this looks like a story that is already headed for a very happy ending!  Check out pictures and video of Rosie and Maddy together as well as other pictures of fantastically fuzzy inter-species friends below!
