Four Burning Candles

Four Burning Candles

In a room there were four candles burning. The ambiance was so soft you could hear them talking.

The first one said, “I am PEACE, however nobody can keep me lit. I believe I will go out.”

It’s flame rapidly diminishes and goes out completely.

The second one says, “I am FAITH. Most of all I am no longer indispensable, so it does not make any sense that I stay lit any longer.”

When it finished talking a breeze softly blew on it putting it out.

Sadly, the third candle spoke in its turn. “I am LOVE. I have not gotten the strength to stay lit. People put me aside and don’t understand my importance. They even forget to love those who are nearest to them.” And waiting no longer it goes out.

Suddenly a child entered the room and saw three candles not burning. “Why are you not burning you are supposed to stay lit till the end.”

Saying this the child began to cry. Then the fourth candle said, “Don’t be afraid, while I am still burning we can re-light the other candles, I am HOPE.”

With shining eyes, the child took the candle of Hope and lit the other candles.

The flame of Hope should never go out from our life and that each of us can maintain HOPE, FAITH, PEACE and LOVE.

Fuzzy Friday: 9/11-The Dog Tails

Today, Fuzzy Friday honors the unspoken heroes of 9/11, the approximately 300 service and rescue dogs that worked tirelessly for days on end with officers of the NYPD, FDNY, and countless rescue organizations, who responded to Ground Zero following the attacks. Today, due to old age or health complications, most of the dogs that assisted in the rescue and recovery of 9/11 have passed away. To all 300 of those courageous canines who risked their lives, burrowing, jumping, digging, twisting, and turning through the asbestos mangled iron and steel wreckage of  what the attacks left behind, relentlessly searching for survivors and remains of the departed, we salute you and we thank you.

Let  today’s Fuzzy Friday post honor their sacrifice, their bravery, their immeasurable contribution to the rescue effort.  The dogs at Ground Zero gave everything they had as long as they could.  They worked day and night, finding those still trapped under the ruble, recovering the remains of those lost in the tragedy, and providing companionship and unending love and support to some of America’s finest heroes of the NYPD, FDNY, and all the rescue and recovery teams who responded after the attacks on. Today we pay tribute to those fearless fuzzy friends, who answered the call, gave it their all, and forever will be remembered as true heroes of 9/11.
