Last week my coworkers and I got into a discussion about our favorite cocktails and started discussing the vast amount of flavored vodkas that have been hitting the market over the past few years. Sure there was always Citron and Stoli Orange but these days the spirit flavor spectrum includes everything from Cotton Candy to Bacon flavored vodkas so the possibilities for coming up with some new and delicious drinks are infinite. I decided to pick up a small bottle of one of these new flavor infused spirits on my way home from work and after a good 20 minutes of debating which one to try I settled on Skyy’s Passion Fruit Vodka.
First off like many of these flavor infused vodkas (depending on the flavor of course, Bacon I can’t imagine mixes well with anything) it’s almost impossible to make a cocktail with them that doesn’t taste pretty good. Long gone are the days of needing to find the perfect mixers to mask the taste of the alcohol in your cocktails, sure you can still go wrong with your mixer selection but for the most part, these new flavor infused vodkas taste great even served straight up or on the rocks. After an evening of taste testing last week I did put together a pretty simple cocktail recipe with my newly purchased Passion Fruit Skyy Vodka that I found to be really REALLY delicious and it was also a huge hit with my friends. I think you will very much enjoy this recipe, its light and refreshing taste makes it that perfect cocktail to enjoy on these warming springtime evenings and also could make a great weekend brunch cocktail as well. Enjoy!
